How do medical doctors, patients, and citizens perceive the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in healthcare?
The Blood2Power project has conducted an international survey to understand how key stakeholders — including medical doctors, patients, and citizens — perceive the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and its growing role in healthcare. Beyond general perceptions, the survey also explored acceptance levels, expectations for future use, and the ethical considerations associated with connected medical technologies.
Carried out between December 2024 and November 2025, the survey collected more than 1600 voluntary responses from participants across more than 20 countries, with notable representation from Portugal, Spain, and Austria.
Andreia Pereira, the investigator responsible for this survey, highlighted that “this diverse engagement provides valuable insights into how IoMT solutions are understood, trusted, and expected to influence clinical practice and patient care”.
The data is now being analysed, and the findings will help inform the development of safe, ethical, and user‑centred IoMT innovations. These insights will also contribute to ongoing discussions about the digital transformation of healthcare systems. The full results will be released soon.
Stay tuned — and follow Blood2Power to be among the first to discover how different communities envision the future of connected healthcare.
